Pentland
Global manufacturing company, owning popular brands such as Boxfresh, Lacoste and Berghaus.
The Pentland site was one of my main projects whilst contracting for the excellent DGTL.net. The designs were created by a separate agency and handed over to us to create.
I was responsible for architecting nearly all of the front-end for the site which involved creating modular CSS so that page templates could be swapped around easily. This meant creating a core stylesheet that defined common page elements and then adding additional styles depending on the brand and colour scheme.
Although various techniques have been superseded, the CSS is robust and cross browser compatible. Supporting IE 6 was (unfortunately) high up the list for Pentland.
One of my favourite parts of the site is the CSS only drop down navigation that also matches the colour scheme of each part of the site. This gives quite a striking effect when using the site and also remains accessible when JS is unavailable.
